Infectious diseases transmitted by bacteria such as dysentery still represent the most frequent cause of death worldwide. It is caused by the bacterium Shigella flexneri. Here, leukocytes are trying to intercept the pathogens. With finger-shaped appendices, they are quickly moving toward the invaders, flow around them and kill them.
