Tardigrades, also called water bears, have no heart, cardiovascular system, respiratory organs or kidneys. Nevertheless, these survivors have managed a trick to just about conquer the Earth. Under poor living conditions, water bears can remain in a state of anhydrobiosis for years. When moistened with water, they are "up on their feet" again after just 20 minutes and pursue their favorite activity - eating.
