Helicobacter pylori bacteria (dyed red) colonizing at the surface of cells in the stomach lining. This infection can result in gastritis and ultimately stomach cancer. For this discovery, J. Robin Warren and Barry Marshall were awarded the Nobel Medicine Prize in 2005.
